If youâve never been here before, hereâs the secret: âLake Genevaâ isnât just one place. The area is made up of three townsâLake Geneva, Fontana, and Williams Bayâplus two lakes: Geneva Lake and nearby Lake Como.
Each town has its own personality, and whether youâre after boutiques and boat tours, sandy beaches and resorts, or cozy family-friendly spots, youâll find it here.
Lake Geneva â the bustling hub with shops, restaurants, and boat tours. Check out my local guide to Lake Geneva Wisconsin HERE.Â
Fontana â home to The Abbey Resort, beaches, and a laid-back lake vibe.
Williams Bay â cozy, family-friendly, and perfect for Yerkes Observatory & lakeshore walks. For my local guide to Williams Bay Wisconsin click HERE. Â
Want an outdoor adventure? Try the Lake Geneva Ziplines or drive a scooter around the lake during a guided scooter tour.Â
Want a relaxing girls trip or bachelorette party? Stay at one of the luxury resorts and indulge in their spas before hitting up afternoon champagne tea at the Baker House or drinks and dancing in downtown Lake Geneva.Â
Planning a family getaway? Stay at Timberridge Lodge which is a hotel with a waterpark on site and then take the ice cream boat tour that both kids and adults will love
If itâs your first trip here, these are the classics I always recommend:
Walk a part of the Lakeshore Path â 21 miles in total, but you can just do a section and still see amazing mansions and lake views.
Take a narrated boat tour by Cruise Lake Geneva â from history tours to cocktail cruises, or the kid-favorite ice cream boat ride.
Stay at The Abbey Resort in Fontana â the only resort right on Geneva Lake with a large spa, 2 restaurants, arcade, piano bar, 4 pools and the perfect âIâm on vacationâ vibe.
Eat lakeside at Pier 290 or Oakfire â my go-to spots when friends are in town.
Stroll through downtown Lake Geneva â grab coffee, browse the shops, and donât leave without a sweet treat.
What kind of trip are you here for? Iâll point you in the right direction:
Outdoor adventure â Lake Geneva Ziplines, kayaking, scooter tours, or hiking the lakeshore path.
Girlsâ trip â Spa day at one of the resorts, champagne tea at Baker House, and cocktails downtown.
Family fun â Timber Ridge Lodge (yes, it has its own waterpark!) and the ice cream boat tour that kids love just as much as adults.
Here are a few of my favorite spots that I keep going back to:
Pier 290 â chic waterfront dining (bonus: you can order a cocktail right on the sand).
Baker House â historic and unique their bottomless mimosa brunch is the best
Oakfire â wood-fired pizza with the best lake views.
The Village Supper Club â old-school Wisconsin supper club vibes right on Delavan Lake.
Youâll want a good home base depending on your trip:
The Abbey Resort (Fontana) â classic lakeside stay, piano bar, multiple restaurants and family-friendly
Lake Lawn Resort (Delavan) â a big property with activities for all ages.
Timber Ridge Lodge (Lake Geneva)â the kidsâ favorite thanks to its indoor waterpark.
Summer â Beaches, boat tours, festivals, fireworks.
Fall â Pumpkin patches, Oktoberfests, and colorful hikes.
Winter â So many Christmas activities, Winterfest, skiing at The Mountain Top.
Spring â Quieter crowds, spa weekends, and winery visits.
Lake Geneva is best when you mix the big-name attractions with little hidden gems. Take the boat tour, yes â but also wander Williams Bay, stop for a Friday fish fry, or sneak away to Lake Como for a quieter dinner.
