Features: The Frosty Moose is known for it’s delicious instagramable ice cream sundaes, like “The Unicorn” or “The Narwal”. In addition to normal soft serve, colored flavored soft serve, and regular ice cream, they also have dairy free and gluten free options! Bonus: They also serve great sandwiches including gluten free bread options (they have the gluten free bread delivered daily from a bakery and was some of the best I tasted!). I got their turkey club sandwich (minus the turkey) so it was a delicious veggie sandwich on gluten free bread. It really hit the spot! The shop is located two blocks from the lake, where there is a playground so grab a treat then head to the lake to burn off some of that energy 🙂

Features: This is my favorite restaurant on the lake and it TAKES RESERVATIONS! This upmarket american inspired restaurant is open year round, offers craft cocktails, free valet parking, indoor and outdoor seating, a gift shop, live music and breathtaking lakeviews make it a local favorite. Another bonus is you can come by boat, dock in front of the restaurant, have lunch and then enjoy the rest of the day on the water. They also have fire pits, a heated outdoor area and the Geneva Lake Shore path is right in front of the restaurant. The do normally have gluten free buns but this is not listed on the menu so make sure you ask!
Gordy's Boat House

Features: This relaxed American eatery is the top Fontana pick! Located across from the lake there is both indoor and outdoor seating, live music and you can even arrive by boat and dock for lunch. The cocktails are tasty and they have a several glueton free and kids menu options. They don’t take reservations so come early during peak season! **Update closed for the season will reopen in May.
Green Grocer & Deli

Features: This small grocery store offers upmarket pantry items, including a whole gluten free shelf of pantry staples and snacks! It also offers sandwiches and smoothies (which can be made vegan!) and an array of wines. They are also attached to the coffee shop next door!
Blue Haven Ice Cream

Features: This cute ice cream shop located in Fontana has over 24 flavors of super premium ice cream from local vendors in Madison and Milwaukee. There are also plenty of gluten free and dairy free options, including gluten free ice cream cones! They are located a few blocks from the Abbey resort and have a cute outdoor patio where you can relax and enjoy your ice cream.
Oakfire

Features: This two story restaurant specializes in wood fired pizzas. They also offer salads, sandwiches and gluten free pizza crusts in addition to the lakeviews. This place always has a buzz and the location is right across from the downtown Lake Geneva public beach. Again, due to the great location, parking and wait times can be a challenge so I don’t recommend it during peak times for families with young kids, since they don’t take reservations. For those of you who don’t have to worry about young kids, go check it out!! There is always a crowd and I love the two story design. It reminds me of a rooftop bar in Chicago.

Features: This place has one of the most extensive gluten free menus around! They offer salads, pastas, pizza, pub burgers, flatbreads, appetizers and other options ALL gluten free.
Cafe Calamari

Features: This Italian restaurant has an outdoor patio overlooking the lake. The classic Italian dishes are delicious so they are usually packed during peak season so make a reservation. They offer gluten free pasta so come enjoy some delicious Italian in a more upmarket atmosphere.
Sabai Sabai Thai and Sushi

Features: If you want sushi this is the place to go. Located in a converted single family home, this downtown Lake Geneva restaurant serves up sushi, shared plates, noodles and soup. They also offer a variety of fried rice and rice noodle based options for those who want to skip gluten (however since gluten is in many soy sauce based dishes check with your server on the specifics if you are allergic!).
Little Bar

Features: Opened in 2019 this aptly named little bar has become a favorite for locals and visitors alike. They have a limited but tasty menu and it’s a great place to come hang in the outdoor patio and have a drink and some pizza. This is located across from the Abbey resort so if you are staying there walk the 1 block and check it out.
Chuck's Lakeshore Inn

Features: This casual bar/restaurant has great lakeviews and is a Fontana institution–everyone knows Chucks! From burgers to salads, blackened mahi mahi or even pizza’s there is something for everyone. I love their veggie burger!
