Features: This is my favorite restaurant on the lake and it TAKES RESERVATIONS! This upmarket american inspired restaurant is open year round, offers craft cocktails, free valet parking, indoor and outdoor seating, a gift shop and breathtaking lakeviews make it a local favorite. Another bonus is you can come by boat, dock in front of the restaurant, have lunch and then enjoy the rest of the day on the water. They also have fire pits, a heated outdoor area and the Geneva Lake Shore path is right in front of the restaurant. Wednesday: Ladies’ Night – 25% off Food & Drinks in the Bar and they have live music Wed-Saturday nights.
My top bachelorette tip would be brunch/lunch with cocktails or mimosas then take a short walk on the Lake Shore Path which is right out front! This is one of the top things to do in Lake Geneva, is free and takes you through the backyards of several Lake Geneva mansions!
Barrique Bistro & Wine Bar
This small lakefront wine bar is located right next door to Popeyes and Oakfire pizza with stunning lake views. They offering small plates, salads, soups and charcuterie boards, with both vegan and gluten free options. They have wine, beer, whiskey and moonshine flights and signature cocktails (my favorite is the Hibiscus margarita!) This place always has a buzz going on and would be a fun place to start your day before going on a boat cruise!
It is within walking distance if you are staying at The Cove, Bella Vista Suites, or Harbor Shores hotels.
Features: This two story restaurant specializes in wood fired pizzas. They also offer salads, sandwiches and gluten free pizza crusts in addition to the lakeviews. This place always has a buzz and the location is right across from the downtown Lake Geneva public beach. Again, due to the great location, parking and wait times can be a challenge so I don’t recommend it during peak times for families with young kids, since they don’t take reservations. For those of you who don’t have to worry about young kids, go check it out!! There is always a crowd and I love the two story design. It reminds me of a rooftop bar in Chicago.
Jazz Dinner Boat Cruise
Features: This Friday evening dinner cruise takes you around the entire lake while listening to a live jazz band and has a cash bar and special dinner menu. Click here for all of the insider details on what to expect on the famous Lake Geneva Boat tours! If you don’t need a full meal there are several other options which all include cash bar!
Ristorantè Brissago or Geneva Chophouse (at the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa)
Features: Both of these restaurants are located in the Grand Geneva resort, which is a 10 minute drive from downtown Lake Geneva. The resort itself it beautiful (especially during the holidays!), and the upscale dining options make it perfect for any celebration.
Geneva Chophouse has hand selected custom seasoned steaks, seafood, sharable plates and an extensive wine list. The chophouse is the fancier option for these two.
Ristorante Brissago is the Italian restaurant at the resort and offers a contemporary take on classic Italian dishes. The expansive view of the beautiful Wisconsin countryside and the award wining golf course serve as a beautiful backdrop to this intimate dining room.
I suggest having a spa day at their amazing Well Spa then heading to one of their restaurants for a cocktail before going out or elegant full meal.
Lake City Social
Features: Located in the heart of downtown Lake Geneva you’ll love the American style menu and fish fry (offered daily with discount on Fridays). Fish fry features battered and deep-fried cod served with tartar sauce, house made coleslaw and your choice of side. I suggest also ordering their Manhattan cocktail. Located in the Cove hotel, the restaurant and bar is big enough that even on busy nights the wait is manageable. Insider tip: Across the street is a green space with a gazebo so even if you have a small wait take the kids outside to run around for a bit.
Lake City Social will take reservations for groups of 8 or more!
Geneva Tap House
Features: Geneva Tap House offers 50 self-service taps. This special experience is a fun and exciting way to try something new and find your new favorite drink! Pour a small sample, half a glass, or a full pint. It’s all up to you!
The also offer appetizers and shareable charcuterie plates for snacking.
The Gateway Restaurant
Features: The Gateway is newly renovated and located in the historic French Country Inn Hotel (which overlooks Lake Como, the smaller 2nd lake in Lake Geneva Wi). A short 10 minute drive from downtown Lake Geneva, during Prohibition, The Getaway was used as a speakeasy. Legend has it that was a prime destination for the likes of Al Capone, Bugs Moran and other disreputable players from Chicago. The basement was a secret spot where one could gather and find a drink. Now, you can stop by the fulling stocked bar and enjoy your favorite drink or cocktail. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and have live music on Monday nights.
Their fish fry is served with choice of lightly breaded, fried or baked cod. It comes with a choice of soup or salad, choice of potato, risotto, or vegetable of the day.
The Boathouse Bar and Grill
Features: This newish addition to the lake has quickly become an extremely popular destination! Opened in 2017 this family owed bar and grill offers classic american fare (think burgers, wings and salads) and has a large outdoor deck with sweeping views of the lake! The have a large parking lot, you are able to dock your boat across the street so many ways to get here, and have live music every night from 6-9pm.
No reservations it is first come first serve.
Features: Mars Resort is located RIGHT on the shore of Lake Como (the 2nd smaller lake located in the town of Lake Geneva). This retro Wisconsin supper club has live piano music, an outdoor bar on the beach (complete with adirondack chairs) and offers short pontoon boat tours from their own dock. This place in the summer can’t be beat. Sitting on the beach with a cocktail in hand and listening to music outside is the best. Fair warning no reservations are accepted so the inside dining area fills up quickly. Their standard hamburgers and cheeseburgers never disappoint!
Popeye's on Lake Geneva
Features: Popeye’s is an institution! Open since the 70s they are known for their rotisserie based menu (free range chicken, ribs, lamb, and pulled pork) and large outdoor patio which is right across from the Rivera building and the public Riviera Beach. They do not take reservations so be prepared to wait if you come during the summer season but it is worth it!
They are located right across the street from the Riviera building (where you hop on the famous Lake Geneva boat tours) and also close to the beach!
